Spiritual Formation Retreat

Spiritual Formation Retreat

Quiet waters for shepherds

In the midst of ministry’s demands, it’s easy for the soul to grow weary. Pastors and leaders often find themselves spiritually depleted, even as they continue to pour into the lives of others. The relentless pace, emotional weight, and unspoken expectations can leave even the most devoted leaders longing for space to simply be — with God.

At QuietWaters Ministries, we believe deeply in the transformative power of spiritual formation. Our Spiritual Formation Retreat provides a sacred space for ministry leaders to pause, listen, and engage intentionally with God. These are more than moments of rest—they are milestones in your journey of Christ-likeness.

Christian leaders often lack a safe place or safe people to engage them in their Christian walk. We offer both through our Spiritual Formation Retreat; it is designed for pastors and other Christian leaders who recognize that growth doesn’t happen by accident, but requires intention, space, guidance, and the presence of the Spirit. Here, you’ll find a Certified Spiritual Director ready to meet you at the next stage of your Godward journey.

Why our Spiritual Formation Retreat is different

What makes our retreat unique is not only our setting but our intentional ministry to those in ministry. We understand the hidden pressures and private pain that often accompany pastoral leadership. We know how hard it can be to find a place where you don’t have to be “on.” And we’ve seen how powerful it is when pastors and leaders are invited to simply receive.

QuietWaters Ministries provides:

  • Individualized spiritual direction grounded in biblical truth and divine grace
  • An environment of hospitality and care designed specifically for Christian leaders
  • A rhythm of rest and renewal that encourages attentiveness to the work of the Spirit
  • Tools and practices that support sustainable soul care long after the retreat ends

Spiritual formation is the Spirit’s work, but we are invited to participate. Our role at QuietWaters is to create space, to listen well, and to respond in grace. This pastoral retreat is your invitation to step away from noise and re-enter communion with God.

Let this be a turning point. Step into a time of refreshment, recalibration, and re-anchoring in God’s love. At a Spiritual Formation Retreat at QuietWaters in Colorado, you’ll find a place that welcomes you just as you are—and walks with you into who God is shaping you to become.

“My mind was tired and my soul … weary! QuietWaters was the perfect place for [my wife] and I to recharge and listen for God’s still voice! Thank you thank you thank you. The staff we met were kind, gracious and always desiring to serve! We loved our week!”

“It isn’t easy to put into words the power of spiritual transformational moments, such as the ones we experienced at QuietWaters …. The [spiritual formation] time…was one of the most profound of our lives …. We journeyed into some of the most painful and complicated areas of our lives to reveal God’s unfailing presence, relentless love, and His compassion. [We] gained a deeper and more compassionate understanding of ourselves and each other, which we had not previously known …. My level of trust in God is deeper than it was when we arrived, and my assurance in His presence for the journey in ministry ahead is anchored in His promises and the words spoken over me.”

What to expect during a Spiritual Formation Retreat

Structured around silence, solitude, reflection, and spiritual direction, a Spiritual Formation Retreat at QuietWaters helps pastors, missionaries, and other Christian leaders:

  • Reconnect with God in a deeply personal and unhurried way
  • Discern the movement of the Spirit in their life and leadership
  • Reflect on personal calling, purpose, and season of ministry
  • Rest from striving and performance, embracing grace and presence
  • Strengthen practices that foster long-term soul vitality

Mornings begin with guided spiritual direction sessions—conversations that help you listen for God’s voice in your everyday experiences. The rest of the day is intentionally unstructured, giving you time for personal prayer, journaling, walking the trails, or simply sitting quietly in God’s presence.

You are not expected to perform or produce. This is a space for deep listening and gentle transformation. Our seasoned Spiritual Directors are trained to guide without pressure, creating an environment of safety, wisdom, and compassion.

Our pastoral retreat setting in Colorado is serene and secluded, offering a peaceful backdrop for soul care and reflection. Whether you come alone or with your spouse, the retreat experience is tailored to your personal needs. Many have found this space to be deeply healing and reorienting for their spiritual life.

“Thank you so much for this unique opportunity to take a break and rest, to heal, to grow, and to spend time drawing close to my Saviour!  It’s hard to express in words what the privilege of this experience has meant.”
